Helpful Tips
This Buddy Bass event coincides with a few other Buckeye Kayak Fishing Trail tournaments, so be sure to double, triple or quadruple dip and submit fish across multiple tournaments!
-
While bass are the primary target for Buddy Bass often times trophy sized Crappie are by-catches. Don't overlook signing up for a small $16 registration fee for the year long Multi-Species Series event YAK-Ohio. A trophy crappie will win a decent pay off for only $16 and you have 7 other months to chase other species as well! The only catch is that you have to get signed up early...as YAK-Ohio registration closes on April 16th.
-
Bass caught for this tournament can also be submitted to the Season Long Black Bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted Bass) which begins on April 1st and runs until October 2nd. You must register prior to May 1st at 11:59PM, so don't wait!
-
Anglers who plan on fishing for Smallmouth Bass during this event can also submit their bass to the Smallmouth only Season Long Smallmouth Bass tournament that runs from April 1st until October 2nd. Register early because entries will not be accepted after 11:59PM on May 1st.

Additional Rules for this tournament...
-
Anglers must compete in at least 1 Tour Series event to be eligible for a payout.
-
The tournament runs from 6AM until 10PM.
-
It is the anglers responsibility to upload submissions by 10PM. Eligible water may have spotty cellular service, so anglers must take responsibility and ensure they take steps to upload before 10PM.
-
This tournament is black bass only (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted).
-
Teams consist of two anglers.
-
The 5 longest bass between the anglers will be their final limit.
-
Each angler MUST contribute at least one fish to their final team limit.
-
Team members MUST fish the same lake. Anglers can choose to move to another eligible body of water, but BOTH anglers must move.

Anglers on the same team cannot fish different lakes at the same time.
-
Anglers are permitted to fish without their teammate if they arrive earlier or stay later.
-
5 specific bodies of water are eligible for this event (see below).
-
The 5 bodies of water are chosen so that they are spread out all across the state. We try to choose 1 per ODNR region.
-
Since we expect some true Ohio trophies caught during this tournament we HIGLHLY ENCOURAGE anglers to not only upload their fish submission to Tourney X, but a 2nd photo of the angler holding the fish! Enter the measurement at 1" and you will either cull it or the judge will remove it, but we will download it and use it for social media, website, etc.
