Measure In Location

East Harbor State Park

1169 N Buck Rd, Lakeside Marblehead, OH 43440

The measure-in is located in the back of the park.  When you enter keep going past the campground and towards the main lake.  There is a large parking lot located between East Harbor and Lake Erie.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to drive to the back of the park.  It is July and there will be a lot of traffic in the park this time of year.

Camping/Meet & Greet

East Harbor State Park

1169 N. Buck Road
Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio 43440

The campground is located along East Harbor and has it's own kayak ramp launch into East Harbor.

Be sure to make reservations soon, as they may fill up quick!

The measure-in is also a good oppurtunity to meet & greet fellow kayak anglers of all skill levels and talk about our mutual love of kayak fishing.

Be sure to join the Buckeye Nation Kayak Anglers group on Facebook to see what anglers are planning for each event.

Eligible Fishing Waters

East Harbor

(See map below: Anything in GREEN is eligible)

West Harbor

(See maps below: Anything in GREEN is eligible)

West Harbor also has several channels off of the main area.  Those areas are also eligible as long as:

1. You can paddle/peddle/troll to them (ie: no going over land)

2. They are not posted as private or no fishing.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MAIN LAKE AS WELL AS THE CHANNELS ENTERING INTO LAKE ERIE ARE OFF LIMITS!

Event History

This will be the Trail's 4th stop up at the Harbors.  Last year was the first year BKFT and KBF ran a joint event and we moved from a 3 fish total at the Harbors to a five fish total.  The wind really kicked up last year in the afternoon and forced alot of anglers to find relief in coves, pads, or anywhere else they could hide out.  In the end Russell Johnson took home the top spot winning by over 2 inches with a 5 fish total of 84.75".  The top 7 anglers all hit or exceeded 80".   Last year the average fish length of those submitted were 14.1" with 78% of anglers catching at least one bass.  There was also 20 bass over 16" caught.  In 2016,  Chris Hannegan took the top spot with a  3 fish total of 49.5" that included the big fish of 19". That tournament saw nearly 90% of the anglers catching at least one fish with the tournament fish average being 13.9".  There were 10 bass 16" and above.  In 2015 Logan Estep walked away the winner with a 53.25" three fish length.  Logan's 17.75" fish average is still the top averaging bag to win.  The average fish size in 2016 was 14.63" average (also the largest in the history of this tournament) and 77% of the field caught at least one bass.  Jack Prosser and Sean Stone both landed 19.75" big fish with Logan and Alex Roberts both finding 19" bass.  There were thirteen 16" bass and above caught during the tournament
