Tournament Day(s) & Identifier
Identifiers can be printed off HERE. The code for the identifier will be released by 9PM on Thursday, June 18 on Facebook, Tourney X, and Twitter. An identifier with no code, the wrong code, or codes in the wrong boxes will not be accepted. If participating in multiple tournaments you can combine codes on a single identifier, but they must be correct and they must be in the correct boxes.
6:00AM June 19 - First cast; Anglers may begin fishing. Any fish caught prior to this time will be DQ'd.
June 21 - At some point during this time frame the Tourney X standings will disappear to add a little drama to the final standings. Once they go dark you will still be able to submit fish. If you want to verify your fish have been uploaded check the email address you signed up with for Tourney X. DO NOT CALL OR MESSAGE US. If you don't receive an email letting you know the fish was submitted then you need to keep trying. The main reason a fish submission won't upload is because there is no cellular service where you are uploading. Anglers need to be aware of that and head to a spot with service in enough time to upload. If cellular service isn't the issue try deleting the Tourney X app and reinstalling the app. Also, make sure location services is on with the camera/app.
10:00 PM June 21 - Fishing ends and no submissions will be accepted.
At the tournament end (or soon after) we will make the standings viewable.
Payouts will be made within 5-10 days after the event has ended.
Eligible Fishing Waters
BE SURE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND ELIGIBLE WATER!
*At its most basic definition, eligible water is anything in Ohio that is accessible to everyone. Accessible means it is legal, open to everyone, and
does not require special permission.
Eligible water includes anything owned by the government (park system, city, township, county, state, federal, ODNR) where fishing from a kayak is permitted. This also includes Ohio waterways designated as rivers or creeks.
*Privately owned water is eligible under certain circumstances. It must be accessible by anyone without special permissions, deals, agreements, or backdoor handshakes from the owner. Anyone should have access to fish the body of water.
*Public and Private water that require permits are eligible if....
>The permit can be obtained by all.
>The permit can be obtained during the 2020 calendar.
>Information is provided either online or by phone on how to obtain a permit.
>Examples of bodies of water that fall into this category include AEP, Lake Katherine, etc.
*All laws, rules, and regulations must be followed while fishing the body of water. For example, if a body of water allows fishing only during daylight hours then any fish caught outside of that period would not be eligible and cause for immediate disqualification.
Examples:
*AEP is privately owned. Everyone can obtain a permit by going to their website and printing one off. AEP is eligible.
*Private lakes where you must be a property owner or a friend of a property owner, etc is not eligible because if you don't 'know somebody' you are not able to access them. Examples of lakes that fall into this category include Lake Wynoka, Shawnee Lake, Lake Lakengren, Lake Lorelei, etc.

*The tournament runs from 6AM on June 19th until 10PM on June 21st.
*The goal for anglers in this event is to catch as many of the species on the list below as possible. The length of the fish doesn't matter (except for an 8" minimum on all fish). 1 point is awarded for each species checked off the list.
You only receive 1 point for each species, so if you catch one largemouth bass over 8" you have received 1 point for that species and will receive no more points for bass.
For every species caught you will earn 1 point, but only one point per species.

Commonly Missed Rules
*All fish must be caught on rod and reel ONLY.
*All fish MUST be hooked not snagged.
*All Buckeye Kayak Fishing Trail events require a Hawg Trough, Ketch board, or Yak Gear Fishstik Version 2 (no exceptions). All Hawg Trough's should have every line (inch, 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch) marked very carefully and with a Fine Point Sharpie. If a Hawg Trough is not marked at every line (inch, 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch) it is likely the pictures could receive a deduction if the judges can't determine if the tail touches or crosses the line. There's no DQ or automatic deduction if you don't mark the lines on the Hawg Trough. It just helps the judges do their job and protects the angler to accurately display the size of the fish. If you have a Ketch board that is dark in color it is up to the ANGLER to produce a clear photograph of the fish. Occasionally the tail will blend into the dark board and be hard to judge. IT IS THE ANGLER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PRODUCE A CLEAR PHOTO SHOWING LENGTH....if not the fish may include deductions and even up to disqualification.
*We HIGHLY encourage additional photos be submitted to buckeyekayakfishingtrail@gmail.com Photos where the angler is holding the fish are often circulated on our Social Media sites, website, as well as with sponsors.
Measuring Fish
*It is possible that some of the species caught for this tournament are longer than the approved measuring boards. Plan accordingly and follow the YAK Ohio rules these fish.
